POP3 and SMTP connection problems are often the result of connectivity between your computer or network and your ISP. Port restrictions imposed by your Internet Service Provider may also complicate sending and receiving through third party servers. Please contact us to help determine where the problem lies. To help us troubleshoot your connection, we may ask you to do the following: 1. Telnet mail.yourdomain.com 25 to verify you can engage a dialog with our server through Port 25. Sending problems are most often the result of your ISP "hijacking" Port 25 connections as a means of preventing spam abuse through their IP addresses. 2. Tracert the IP to the server to determine if there is a bottleneck somewhere between your computer and the servers. 3. Capture a screenshot of the exact error message you are seeing in your mail client application. 4. Clarify if the timeouts occur when sending, receiving or both. Related Questions and Considerations 1. Are you and your users sharing one DSL line? If so, how many users are sharing the internet connection? 2. Are you connecting to the internet through a cable modem? 3. Can you access your account through webmail?
