In Microsoft Outlook, the following error indicates the incoming mail server could not be found: The host 'pop.greatmail.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'My Account', Server: 'pop.greatmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D Verify with your mail administrator the correct server name and port number you should use to connect to your POP server. In the error mesage above, 'pop.greatmail.com' is wrong. The correct server name is 'smtp.greatmail.com'. To specify your incoming mail server in Outlook Express: 1. Select Tools/Accounts. 2. Click on the Mail tab, highlight YourAccount and click on the Properties button. 3. Click on the Servers tab. 4. Enter 'smtp.greatmail.com' in the incoming mail (POP3) field. If you are hosting email for your domain on our servers and have pointed your domain name servers (DNS) to our nameservers, you should use 'yourdomain.com' as the incoming mail server name. If you have pointed your DNS elsewhere, you may specify one of the following for the mail servers: a. The highest priority MX record, for example 'smtp.greatmail.com' if you have specified 'smtp.greatmail.com' as your highest priority MX record. b. 'mail.yourdomain.com' if you have set up a CNAME record: mail CNAME mail.greatmail.com. c. The name of the mail server, 'yourdomain.com.nmsrv.com' d. The IP address of the mail server, for example '69.28.204.11' Generally, you should leave the incoming port at the default setting of 110. To change the incoming mail server port number: Select Tools/Accounts. 1. Click on the Mail tab, highlight YourAccount and click on the Properties button. 2. Click on the Advanced tab. 3. Enter 110 in the Server Port Numbers Incoming mail (POP3) field.
